The Hui race is attacked by the Ching army. Muk and his son die in the battle field. Ching-tung is injured and is rescued by her master. Ka-lok is furious learning of the attack. Kin-lung explains that it is the decision of the Empress Dowager and that he has no say in the matter. Princess Fragrance is captured. when Kin-lung sees her, he is spellbound by her beauty. He wants to make her his wife, but is vehemently turned down. She threatens suicide if Kin-lung dares to touch her. The Empress Dowager is getting more suspicious of Kin-lung, as more and more leaders of the Red Flower Clan arrive at the Forbidden City:
