Romy Croquet Mars is the daughter of Sofia Coppola, the acclaimed director and screenwriter, and Thomas Mars, the lead vocalist of the indie band Phoenix. Born in 2006, Romy is part of a family deeply involved in the artistic and cinematic world. Her maternal grandparents are the renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and documentarian Eleanor Coppola. Romy gained notoriety in 2023 after posting a TikTok video that quickly went viral. In the video, she shared moments of her daily life and casually mentioned trying to rent a helicopter to visit a friend, which led to her being punished by her parents.
