Julie is een jonge en pas gekwalificeerde lerares uit Kopenhagen, Denemarken. Ze is haar ontrouwe vriend en het leven in de grote stad beu en neemt een baan als lerares op een idyllisch eiland in Zuid-Noorwegen.
