Mônica Carvalho
is a Brazilian actress who began her career as a model . In 1987, at the age of 16, she decided to sign up for the Musa Verão do Rio beauty contest, in which she was the winner, deciding to pursue a career as a model, photographing for fashion editorials. [ 4 ] In 1990 she signed with one of the largest international modeling agencies, Ford Models , moving to New York , in the United States , where she modeled for several brands. [ 9 ] In 1993 she debuted and became a muse in the opening of the second version of the soap opera Mulheres de Areia , [ 10 ] she acted in an episode of the series Confissões de Adolescente [ 11 ] on TV Cultura . In 1994 she attended the Globo Actors Workshop and had a special appearance in Quatro por Quatro , as the girlfriend of player Renato Gaúcho . Still on Rede Globo, he acted in the soap operas História de Amor , Chocolate com Pimenta , among others, he also played two characters in Malhação , [ 12 ] as well as an episode of the series A Vida Como Ela É... , shown on Fantástico and the program Você Decide , [ 13 ] achieved enormous success in 2001 as Maria do Socorro (Socorrinho) from Porto dos Milagres . She was on the cover of the magazines Playboy (in 3 editions), Plástica & Beleza , Boa Forma and Amiga , she did some plays, [ 14 ] on other television stations she worked in the soap operas Cidadão Brasileiro and Caminhos do Coração on Rede Record , she played the villain Nara Paranhos de Vasconcelos in the soap opera Uma Rosa com Amor on SBT . [ 15 ] [ 16 ] In 2011, she returned to Rede Globo , participating in the soap opera Fina Estampa , playing the secretary Glória Monteiro. [ 17 ] [ 18 ] In 2017, she made a special appearance in the 6pm soap opera Tempo de Amar . In 2019, she signed with RecordTV , and acts in the macro series Jezabel , as the villain Thanit, a seductive, ambitious and unscrupulous pagan priestess, and also Jezebel's best friend.
