Lancelot De Giberne Sieveking was born in Harrow, Middlesex in 1896. From an early age he took an interest in writing, and at 13 years old began working on his first novel. By 29, he had had several books published, and took a job at BBC producing radio dramas. He would continue this job until his retirement in 1956, at which point he was credited on over 200 radio plays. His autobiography - entitled The Eye of the Beholder - was published in 1957. He died in 1972, aged 75.
