Henry Farland se s manželkou Allison a malou dcerkou přestěhuje na venkov - k Jackovi, svému patronovi. Ten mladé rodině stále více vnucuje své představy o životě. Allison touto situací velmi trpí, ale Henry si tento život užívá plnými doušky a dokonce si začne románek s kamarádkou z dětství.
